Valuation of Silver

Silver has always been very popular. You will find this precious metal everywhere, in jewelry, utensils and coins, for example. As such there is a reasonable chance that you have special pieces in your possession. Do you want to know what their value is? Do not randomly choose an address in your area, but go to a real expert: a transparent appraiser with expertise.

We provide appraisals for:

  • Necklaces
  • Brooches
  • Jewelry
  • Rings
  • Watches
  • Coins
  • Silverware
  • Napkin rings
  • Other silver items

Our appraisers look beyond the value of the silver. They can tell you whether you have a unique object or special collection that may be of interest to collectors. Distinguishing them is an art.

In the past, silver has been used very intensively in jewellery, clothing accessories, utensils and coins. The wealthy paid with silver coins, ate with silver cutlery, and adorned themselves with silver rings, buttons, and brooches.

In the decades after the Second World War, the Dutch saved plenty of silver guilders and rixdollars. They often did this as a hobby or investment for the (grand) children. Many collections are long forgotten and only after someone passes away do the weck jars with silver money reappear. This may have happened to you and you are wondering what the silver jewelry or coins are worth nowadays.

You can find out by having a free and non-binding valuation done by our experts.

Value of silver

When determining the value of silver objects, several factors play a role. One of these is the world silver price, also known as the 'spot price'. It is a price formed based on the circulation of silver on world exchanges and international auction houses, such as Heritage Auctions. In other words, the value of silver coins is determined by supply and demand in the world market. This value is separate from the value a collector is willing to pay for the silver coin. An appraisal of the value of silver currency, jewelry etc. always considers both.

Real silver utensils and jewelry, such as silver rings, are also called 925 sterling silver. 925 sterling silver means that the object consists of 92.5% silver. There are also lower alloys, such as 935 and 960, the so-called Argentium silver. This alloy of silver only came to exist in 2006.
