Hand out of the clouds with the arms of Utrecht and the University, in exergue a four-line text - 37 mm 15,30 gram - XF, grey patina - very rare - NB In 1643 the Magistrate of Utrecht decided to provide dies for gold medals to be awarded to graduating students; in 1644 each member of the Magistrate received a silver copy. The more common medal on which the student wears a hat dates from 1648
