Interesting bill of exchange ('wisselbrief') for ƒ 501,28 issued in Delft, November 21 1872 by the Oost en West Indische Opvoeding Maatschappij to the Nederlandsche Handel-Maatschappij in Amsterdam in favor of Wed. Elink Sterk in 's-Gravenhage, with endorsement - small liasing holes, VF - NB Between 1851 and 1886 this company, chaired by G.L. Baud, provided education for approximately 125 Dutch children in the Dutch East Indies. This payment is probably a refund of the deposit of ƒ 500, with costs. The beneficiary is probably the widow of painter J.C.E. Elink Sterk.
