AR large fanam of 6 stivers (1.03 g.) & AR fanam or puttan (0.28 g.) ND. Obv. Representing degenerated figure of the goddess Kali with shanka shell on breast / rev. Lazy J with 12 dots below and O C (Oostindische Compagnie) above. (Scho. 1234, KM.30, Beeldenaar 1985-3 afb. 24; Scho. 1250, KM.8 (Cochin) As early as 1675, silver coins were struck at Negapatnam. These were the large silver fanams of 6 stivers, which were intended for export to Ceylon, Cochin and the Pearl Fishery (Tuticorin).
