Thrace / Augusta Traiana - AE28 (c. AD 202, 7.62 g) - Sicinnius Clarus, governor - AVKL CEΠTI CEVHPOC ?EP Laureate head right / HΓE CIKINNIOY KΛAPOV AVGOVCTHC around city gate with closed doors, 2 towers flanking, third tower in background (TPAIANHC in ex.) (Varbanov 1016) – some roughness, small flan crack but VF, a remarkable and well-centered bronze coin. The reverse legend tells us about Sicinnius Clarus, who was governor of Thrace during the consulship of Septimius Severus and Caracalla (AD 202). The date also corresponds with some coins of Plautilla as Augusta bearing Clarus’ name, struck at several mints.
