1841/1857 - Medal 'Beloningspenning (draagpenning) van de 'Zuid-Hollandsche Maatschappij tot Redding van Schipbreukelingen te Rotterdam' designed by H. Rochussen, engraved by König and manufactured by G. Loos in Berlin (Dirks 593, MMW.112) - Obv. Rescuers with castaways on beach behind which a lifeboat and a wreck / Rev. Inscription field within oak wreath and legend, engraved: W. de Zeeuw Baggus 5 January 1857 - silver 44 mm 27,07 gram - VF - rare - NB Directors of the Maatschappij decided in March 1858 to award this silver medal to Captain W. de Zeeuw Baggus, 'voerende het Nederl. hoekerschip Thetis, van Vlaardingen, voor het redden op 5 Jan. 1857 van de twee overgebleven schepelingen van het mastlooze Deensche schoenerschip Enigheden'. The Enigheden was en route with grain from Stege to London when it lost both masts in a storm at Dogger Bank and most of the the crew fell overboard. Only the skipper, the cook and a sailor remained; the latter died during the rescue attempt by the Thetis.
