Kingdom of Srivijaya, Concave ‘half moon’ sandalwood flower pattern coin (15.61 g.) of copper-based alloy. Such ingots in silver with the sandalwood and Purnakalasa are published by Millies in 1871 (#7-12) and Netscher & Van Der Chijs, 1863 (#121-123) where they are attributed to the Sailendra Kingdom of Java. A good selection of the base metal examples of similar design, appear in “The Evolution of Thai Money” (2016) by R. Krisadaolarn, p.47 (A705), and for this specific piece, second down on p.47. - VF
