Siege coinage - 28 Stuiver 1574 struck in PAPER (vG 57a / CNM 2.32.14) - Obv. Rampant lion brandishing sword and shield with arms of Leiden +HÆC +LIBERTATIS +ERGO +1574 / Rev. Within wreath GOTT / DEHOEDE / LEYDEN, denomination 28 ST in two rectangles below - XF - Extremely rare - Two inventory numbers in pencil on reverse - While this type almost certainly postdates the siege of 1573/4, based on split examples showing early 17th century printing was utilized in production of the planchets, it remains an iconic piece of the 'nachleben' of the siege and an extreme numismatic rarity - never sold by us before
