TRA. / Rev: Climbing lion; legend CONFIDENS DNO NO MOVETVR - In imitation of a Lion Thaler of Utrecht - 27.44 gram - VF - Extremely rare and never sold by us before - While the Lion thaler, due to its populairty in trade with the Levant, was imitated all over Europe, the Transylvanian imitations remain amongst the most interesting. Clearly naming its issuing authority with the inscription 'REG. TRA' and of a style wholly different from any other lion thaler imitations. Only pieces dated 1638 are known, from only a handful of different dies.
