Muhammad Baqir, born in Macasser, became sultan on the dead of his father, Sultan Muhammad al-Sa’id, who died on 15 November 1653 and this coin may therefore be regarded as a pre-coronation issue struck in 1653._x000D_ The Dutch called Sultan Hasan al-Din "the Rooster of the East" as he was described as aggressive in battle and was proclaimed as Indonesian National Hero on 6 November 1973.
