England, Letter of Patent issued March 5, 1875 - an impressive document on vellum, 77x50 cm, in the name of Queen Victoria, for "An improved continuous horizontal apparatus for washing or absorbing gas or vapors or for distilling liquids" by the renowned Belgian chemist Ernest Solvay. With two revenue stamps and a large hanging royal seal (on horseback and enthroned) in green wax (chip broken off).
