Violin by master violinmaker Lambert Houniet, hand written label, made in Utrecht, in the year 2009 with opus number 139. Spruce wood top plate from the French Alps, acquired in 1974 in Mittenwald, Southern Germany and stored by Houniet. Back plate, rib and scroll made of maple wood acquired in 1970 in Mittelwald, Southern Germany. Clear orange-red oil finish produced by Houniet. Back plate length: 355 mm; Upper Bout width: 169 mm; C Bout width: 108 mm; Lower Bout width: 209 mm. Comes with a certificate of authenticity by Lambert Houniet dated 17 November 2021. Currently based in The Netherlands, L.H.Houniet is a master violinmaker who learnt his craft at the venerable Violinmaking College in Mittenwald. After graduating in 1968 he spent some three months with Vladimir Pilar in the Czech Republic. Thereupon he worked for three years with the renowned firm of J. and A. Beare in London. L.H.Houniet is a member of the Entente Internationale des Maîtres Luthiers et Archetiers d’Art, a distinguished society of the best violin- and bowmakers of the world. Since 2016 he aims to pass on his knowledge to a new generation of makers as well as researching the methods of construction and recreating the varnish, as used by the old masters of Cremona.
