A Chinese porcelain charger decorated in underglaze blue bearing the arms of Jacob Pelgrom (1655-1713). Of protestant faith Pelgrom fled France and emigrated to Amsterdam in 1688 and then on to the Dutch East Indies where he worked his way up the bureaucracy at the VOC eventually becoming Director of Bengal by the time of his death, China, Kangxi period (1662-1722) -D. 40 cm, two sections of the rim broken and glued, rim frittings-
