An interesting collection ephemera, newspaper clippings, postcards etx on the subject of the 'Uiver' from the collection of Rudolf Spoor. The Uiver was a Douglas DC-2 passenger plane of the KLM with registration PH-AJU that became world famous in 1934 by winning the Melbourne Race only to crash later in the same year while trying to set a new record. The two albums contain an enormous amount of interesting material including a postcard signed by Koene Dirk Parmentier, the captain of the Uiver who flew the Melbourne Race. Also included are photographs of the Pelikaan and a signature of J. Grosfeld, one of the crew members of the Pelikaan's record Christmas flight in 1933 and much more. Also included is the rare 'Programma voor de huldiging van de Uiver-bemanning te Aalsmeer'. Should be viewed in person.
