Messenger lapel badge of the Kabinet der Koningin (Queen's Cabinet, 1891). Ribbon of black cloth 215x50 mm, covered at the front with three rows of silver stitching (diagonal-horizontal-diagonal) and at the bottom a 65 mm long fringe of gold braid, trimmed with two cords; attached to the ribbon is a silver-gilt triple bow with a suspension loop from which, by means of three chains, hangs an oval box-shaped medallion 52x68 mm, with a bracket at the back that runs around the ribbon. The lid of the medallion consists of glass with a gilded edge in which is engraved at the bottom 'KABINET DER KONINGIN' and carries three hanging ornaments; behind the glass the crowned national coat of arms is visible with crowned lions as bearers on a banderole reading 'JE MAINTIENDRAI', painted in gouache (brown, grey-brown, gold, red and blue) on glacé cardboard, part of which is damaged at the bottom left. On the bow a maker's mark and a hall mark ‘sword’. The name 'Kabinet des Konings' was changed in 1891 to 'Kabinet der Koningin'. Probably at that time, only the edge of the lid with the engraving was changed, because the entire version of the bus strongly resembles messenger boxes from the early nineteenth century. Extremely rare.
