Yixing cylindrical teapot and cover with foo-dog finial from the Nanking Cargo, the body and cover both decorated with contrasting coloured apliqué decoration, China, ca. 1750 -H. 13 cm, encrusted with remains of the seabed- The Nanking cargo was carried by the ship 'The Geldermalsen' when it sank in the South China Sea on January 4th 1752. The wreck was salvaged in 1984 and auctioned in Amsterdam in 1986.
