Primitive money, ethnograpy and weights - Nice and mixed lot of 40 Ashanti 'gold weights', 28 small pieces (mostly rectangular, between appr. 1 and 2 cm.) and 12 larger pieces (avg. 3 cm.), a few animal-shaped - these weights were originally used for weighing gold dust in the African Gold Coast, appr. 19th century but were also cast after 1890, when tourists entered Africa.
