1928 - Gouden winnaarsmedaille IXe Olympische Spelen te Amsterdam 1928, geslagen bij 's Rijks Munt naar ontwerp G. Cassioli (Gadoury 1) - VZ De Overwinningsgodin Nikè, olijvenkroon in haar rechterhand, zittend naast stadion; opschrift: 'IXe Olympiade Amsterdam 1928' / KZ Winnaar op schouders rondgevoerd, palmblad in de linkerhand. In 1921 werd door het IOC een ontwerpconcours georganiseerd voor de vervaardiging van een nieuwe medaille voor de winnaars. Pas tijdens de Olympiade in Parijs in 1924 werd het ontwerp van de Italiaanse ontwerper Giuseppe Cassioli verkozen. Dit ontwerp is gebruikt tot en met de Olympische Spelen van München in 1972. Tijdens de Olympische Spelen in 1928 zijn in totaal 771 winnaarsmedailles uitgereikt, waarvan 254 gouden exemplaren. Deze medailles werden vervaardigd, zoals gebruikelijk vanaf 1912, van verguld zilver. Nederland veroverde in Amsterdam 6 gouden,9 zilveren en 4 bronzen medailles.
