AR Tetradrachm (Antioch, 15.32 g) - Diademed head right / Zeus seated left holding Nike and sceptre, monogram to left (Newell SMA 460) - VF, a very rare coin. Antiochus XIII Asiaticus was the last king of the Seleukid Kingdom. He was the son of Antiochus X, lived in Asia but also in Rome, and was proclaimed King by the Roman senate in 68 BC. Already in 65 BC Pompeius dethroned him, after which he fled to Sampsiceramus (King of Emesa), who captured and executed him. From then on the Seleukid empire was a Roman province.
