Lot 3105

Lot 3105
Asia Minor - AE (Hemiassarion?) (uncertain mint RY 12 (?), 3.62 g) - Laureate head of Vespasianus to right / ETOYΣ IB within laurel wreath (apparently unpublished) - a.VF, some green deposit rev., very rare. A mysterious coin, for it tells us it has been struck in regnal year 12, a year that does not exist for Vespasianus. As we know he died on June 23 AD 79, in his regnal year 11. A possibly error of the die cutter?
