Milled AE ½ Anna VS1942 (1886) (KM12, BHS513) - Obv: Nagari legend 'Srimant Sarkar Holkar', around sun-face / Rev: Reclined bull to left facing Lingam, bilva leaf above. Nagari legend and date: ‘Shar Indore Sanvat 1942’ around - 12.37 gram - XF, extremely rare On 19 January 1886 the State issued a Circular that the existing copper coins were dissimilar and of different dies. Uniformity was desirable and hence copper coins were minted by the Indore merchant Mangturam on behalf of the State. The newly machine struck copper coins were put into circulation by January 1886 (VS1942). Traders could obtain them at 16 ½ takkas (33 paisa) and redistribute them at 32 paisa to a rupee. The present coin, is clearly a specimen produced with a screw press and minted according to the Circular of 19 January 1886
