Satraps of Caria - Mausollos, 377-353 BC - AR Drachm (3.51 g) - Head of Helios facing, turned slightly to right / MAYSSOLO Zeus Labraundos with double-headed axe to right (cf. SNG Copenhagen 591ff / SNG von Aulock 2361-65) - VF-a.VF. Mausollos succeeded to the satrapy in 377 BC and later he transferred his governmental seat to the Greek city of Halikarnassos. After his death in 353 BC his tomb ('mausoleum', named after Mausollos) was build in this city, nowadays considered as one of the 7 classical wonders of the ancient world.
