AV Aureus (Rome, as Caesar AD 166-177, struck under Marcus Aurelius AD 175, 7.25 g) - COMMODO CAES AVG FIL GERM Bareheaded and draped bust right / LIBERALITAS AVG Commodus, togate, seated left on curule chair on platform, extending right hand, Liberalitas standing left holding abacus and cornucopiae, before platform citizen, togate, standing right, foot on steps (RIC 597 (probably same rev. die) / C. 292 / Calicó 2274 (same rev. die) / BMCRE 635 (Aurelius and Commodus), pl. 66, 4 (same rev. die) - good VF, an extremely rare and attractive aureus with the fine portrait of a young Commodus, as this is the first issue to feature his portrait. Only a few known!
