Engraved double-hemisphere map, hand-coloured, image 49 x 57 cm (50,8 x 58,9 cm sheet). With two smaller celestial hemispheres and insets of northern and southern skies, on a background depicting stars, the sun, the moon, cherubs and windheads.
Homann, the leading German cartographer of his time, designed this map published by his heirs. It is one of the most decorative 18th century world maps.
