Auction collection Willy van de Kerkhof

On June 14, 2022, the NOS reported the following:

Former football international Willy van de Kerkhof has many of his football relics up for auction. The silver medals he won with the Dutch football team at the 1974 and 1978 World Cups, among others, will be auctioned

Heritage Auctions Europe in IJsselstein will conduct the auction. The auction house estimates the proceeds of the medals at a minimum of 10,000 each.

In 1974 at the World Cup in West Germany, the midfielder remained on the reserve bench in all matches of Orange. Four years later in Argentina, he had a starting spot in all games.

The now 70-year-old former player of PSV and FC Twente also has other objects from his personal collection in auction. These include the medal of the European Cup I win in 1988 and the UEFA Cup win in 1978 with PSV, the bronze medal of the European Championship 1976, signed match shirts, pennants and trophies.

The auction will take place on June 23. It is not known what Van de Kerkhof will do with the proceeds.
