June, 2021
Lovers of impressionism (and expressionism) were able to enjoy a special Cor Noltee collection in the auction of June 2021. It concerned a collection of about seventy paintings and hundreds of drawings by Cor Noltee (1903-1967).
This ingenious artist settled down in Dordrecht in 1937 after traveling in his younger years. He was known as a bohemian and as a painter of impressionist paintings (watercolor, pastel) and drawings. His last works, which he made in his studio in De Biesbosch, had an expressionistic character. He worked with a palette knife in bold colours. He has made an estimated number of 40 paintings using this technique.
These works are almost completely unknown, because they have mainly been in family hands and not offered for sale before. In collaboration with the grandchildren, these beautiful works have nevertheless appeared at the auction. The collection went under the hammer during our Art, Collectibles and Militaria auction from the 23rd to the 26th of June.
