½ Gulden or 10 stuiver 1688 over 1682, struck in gold on the weight of 3 ducats (CNM 2.28.99 / V. 52.3 / Delm. 807 /R3) - 9.97 gram - Obv. Standing Pallas with pike, leaning on altar / Rev. Crowned arms dividing 10-S - lightly cleaned and various traces of mounting - RRRR of the utmost rarity - XF - a hirtherto unrecognized overdate of this already exceptionally rare series of gold off-metal strikes, far eclipsing the masterfully restored plugging. Within the Dutch republic, the 1680's and early 1690's saw a huge reorganisation in mint and monetary organization.
