Amsterdam, double wooden coin weight box by Gerrit Geens, ink inscription dating to 1733 (but likely dating earlier). 145x85x29 mm, on the top, sides and insides decorated with engraved frames with floral motifs and geometric patterns. With brass hook and fittings, stift missing, some minor damage to the wood though in all presentable. In the bottom a large compartment for the balance, 10 square coin weights and one for grain weights, added two later weights. In the lid behind sliding door room for 15 further coin weights. Above each compartment the corresponding coin written in ink and on the lid ‘GEMAECT BIJ GERRIT GEENS INDE BALANS INDE CALVERSTRAET T’AMSTERDAM’ - Arm slightly rusted though intact, one tinned brass hook and scale missing (likely round). Triangular one marked IL with arrow and heart for balance maker J. Langenberg in Amsterdam (ca. 1613-1690) - In the grain compartment 4 grain weights - In the bottom and lid compartments 21 coin weights of different makers, likely 4 missing. 6x unmarked, 2x Jan Adriaansz van Keulen (both dated 1655), 1x Guilliam de Neve (dated 1617) and 12x Wouter Koenen, all from Amsterdam
