An interesting collection ephemera, newspaper clippings, postcards etx on the subject of the 'Uiver' from the collection of Rudolf Spoor. The Uiver was a Douglas DC-2 passenger plane of the KLM with registration PH-AJU that became world famous in 1934 by winning the Melbourne Race only to crash later in the same year while trying to set a new record. The two albums contain an enormous amount of interesting material including a postcard signed by Koene Dirk Parmentier, the captain of the Uiver who flew the Melbourne Race. Also included are photographs of the Pelikaan and a signature of J. Grosfeld, one of the crew members of the Pelikaan's record Christmas flight in 1933 and much more.
